Beginning on Oct. 21st, and running through the 28th, we hosted back to back major events here at Sunny Slope. From Oct. 21st - 24th we hosted a Gospel Meeting on the theme: Lives Focused On Jesus with Ralph Gilmore doing the speaking. Then, on Oct. 28th we hosted a one day seminar on Islam vs. Christianity with Bill Lockwood making four presentations. Both programs were absolutely outstanding! Brother Gilmore, a long time Gospel preacher and a professor at Freed Hardeman University, presented the life changing message of the gospel, focusing on various aspects of our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Brother Gilmore’s lessons demonstrated an in depth knowledge of the scriptures while, at the same time, being practical and dynamic. Ralph is also a very personable individual, possessing the ability to teach the truth of God’s word emphatically yet in an inoffensive way.
Bill Lockwood preaches near Wichita Falls, TX. He lectures and debates on a variety of topics, the dangers of Islam being one which certainly is a hot-button issue in our world today. Bill’s knowledge of the history and principles of the Islamic faith is extensive. He has taken care to gather the material he presents from historical records, the writings of Islamic scholars and the Koran itself. Applying this information to current events brings perspective to the material. The vast number of adherents to Islam today notwithstanding, it is a false religion with a history of violence and oppression. To say that a number of elements within Islam are radical, and seem bent on forcing their principles on the rest of the world, is simply a matter of open eyed observation of what is going on around the globe right now. The world in general, and we in this country in particular, need to wake up! All sessions of both programs were well attended, and a great many visitors were present. Several hundred CD’s of the various lessons were taken and/or requested. Many requested complete sets of one or the other or both. Let’s use these recorded lessons to continue to spread the truth to others we know and with whom we come into contact. It was truly an incredible succession of events. Somewhat exhausting, but incredible. Our prayer is that souls were instructed in God’s truth in an effective, potentially life changing way and that our Heavenly Father was pleased and glorified. We also need to pray that our congregation was, and will continue to be, strengthened through these efforts. May God guide and use us in His will always… Comments are closed.
