“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up” (2 Pet. 3:10). Judgment day! “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation” (Heb. 9:27-28). As certain as is the reality of death, just as certain is the reality that God has already appointed a day on which the world will be judged.
"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead" (Acts 17:30-31). The fact that Jesus arose from the grave assures us that He is coming again to judge the world, and on that day ignorance will not be an excuse for disobedience to God. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad“ (2 Cor. 5:10). Everybody will be judged on that day by our savior Who gave His life that we might have the opportunity to be forgiven and saved. How awful to go to the judgment without turning to our savior in obedience! “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God” (Rom. 14:12). God holds us responsible for how we live the life that He gives us, for how we use the blessings with which He blesses us. “…in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel” (Rom. 2:16). Nothing about us, nothing about how we lived, nothing about what we did and did not do, nothing about our obedience or disobedience to the gospel will be hidden from Him at the judgment. “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matt. 25:23). That day will be a day of deliverance, reward and great victory for the faithful. “…when the Lord Jesus is revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thess. 1:7-8). For those who have not followed Christ in faithful obedience, that day will be more terrible than we can imagine. “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2). Are you ready for the judgment? What if Christ came today, would you be happy or sad? Would you be glad to see Him? Are you ready for Christ to come again?… Comments are closed.
