By: Gary L. Hutchens As we enter into a new year, there’s a question that should be up front in everybody’s mind: “How’s My Relationship With God?” At about this time every year people consider the status of their lives. They reflect on what happened to them last year, the state of their right now, and they look ahead to what is realistically appearing before them on the horizon. Sometimes, they like what they see and just want it to continue. More often, though, they see situations they would like to change. They zero in on the changes they want to work on as the new year begins. If they’re serious enough, they make resolutions to do what needs to be done to bring about those changes, whatever they might be.
Most New Year’s Resolutions eventually fall by the wayside, left unfulfilled. With many of these, however, some benefit is achieved by at least focusing on the need and beginning a process of change. Hopefully, progress is made toward the eventual goal. People who are diligent in working on and fulfilling their resolutions to being about positive change in their lives find a special sense of accomplishment and satisfaction as they successfully reach their goal. Somewhere along the line, almost everybody has some serious need for change in their lives. It can be almost anything that negatively affects their personal life. Generally, such situations do not just work themselves out on their own. The first step is to recognize and admit the problem. The second step is to sincerely desire to change. The third step is to make up one’s mind to do whatever needs to be done to bring about the desired change. The fourth step is to actively and diligently do the work necessary to successfully make the change. There is no greater need in one’s life than to have a good relationship with God. So many people realize something is missing in their lives, but they’re not sure just what it is. They grope around, not really knowing what to look for to fill the void. They end up going through an extended hit-or-miss process that leaves them frustrated and unsuccessful. Having the right relationship with God can eliminate many potential problems in your life, and solve others. Nothing can fill the need for God in your life, except God Himself! You need to understand Who God is and what He can do for you. The Bible is rich in wisdom, knowledge and direction that comes directly from God. What better time than right now, the beginning of a new year, to change your life by studying God’s word and learning His will? This resolution can make a huge difference in your life, an eternal difference. Is your relationship with God all that it should be? Are you sincerely ready to make the change? Are you ready to get to work? Let us help you begin to study the Bible in a common sense, straightforward way, and see what a difference for good, what a change it can make in your life… Comments are closed.
