A Good Time To Think About Your Soul

This is a good time to think about your soul.  When? Right now!  Well, many people would think this probably has something to do with the holiday season.  After all, we just celebrated a few weeks ago the Thanksgiving holiday, a day that certainly has spiritual overtones.  In a few days, many people will be celebrating the physical birthday of Jesus, even though virtually all Bible scholars agree that He almost certainly was not boron that day.  In fact, the Bible does not say when He was born, nor does it give any instruction as to having a special day of celebration on that day, whenever it was.  Just a week later we will celebrate New years Day, a day that marks new beginnings.  Al kinds of spiritual applications can be made based on that concept.

Without question, this is a time of the year that seems to spur many people to think more about the spiritual side of their lives.  I am thankful when anything motivates a person to focus on his spiritual life.  Once a person begins to focus on spiritual matters, then the opportunity for real, meaningful teaching opens up.  As a person learns the teachings of God's work, then he can apply those teachings to his life and find forgiveness for his sins, salvation in Jesus Christ and the promise of an eternal home with God in Heaven.  He can change his life!

This is a good time to think about your soul.  But I do not necessarily refer to the holiday season by the word this.  My reference is to the immediate moment.  Right now is a good time to think about your soul.  Paul put it succinctly when he wrote, "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2).  Right now, whenever right now is, is a good time to think about your soul.  It doesn't matters what month, what day of the month or what time of the day it is.  Right now is a good time to think about your soul!

The reality is that right now is the only time of which you are assured.  Yesterday, an hour ago, even a minute past is already gone, forever gone and unable to be called back.  Tomorrow, an hour from now, even the next minute is still somewhere in the future, and the future is uncertain.  That time may come, but it may not.  If it does come, you do not know what it might hold.  But, right now is here, before you, in your grasp.  You can do something with it right now.  But it will be gone before you know it along with all of the opportunities that it holds.

You live your life expecting another right now moment.  And then another and then another, one after another in an endless succession.  But somewhere along the line your right now moments will run out.  There will be no more of them.  Then you will have no more opportunity to think about your soul in a way so as to be able to change things.  How many more right now moments do you have?  Don't know?  Could be a million.  Or, it could be just a few.  Facing that reality should hasten you to conclude that right now is a good time to think about your soul.  In fact, right now is the right time to think about your soul...
